Our Founder

Christian Mapes is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Valor Energy Solutions, an independent energy advisory firm helping large energy users lower costs, manage risk, and optimize participation in wholesale power markets.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Christian earned his Bachelor of Science in Systems Design and Management before serving five years as an officer in the U.S. Army, including two years as a platoon leader in the 75th Ranger Regiment. After transitioning from active duty, he built a career in the energy technology sector, specializing in wholesale market operations across the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), ERCOT, and MISO regions.

Through Valor Energy Solutions, Christian helps data centers, manufacturers, and industrial clients develop customized energy strategies — from rate and tariff analysis to demand response participation and market optimization. His approach combines technical expertise, disciplined execution, and a commitment to helping clients make smarter, data-driven energy decisions.

When he’s not advising clients, Christian is an advocate for innovation and transparency in the energy sector. He lives in Nebraska, with his wife and two children, and is actively involved in local energy policy and public power initiatives.
